For nearly 40 years, new mothers have trusted Lansinoh to support and care for them while they enter the messy magic of motherhood. Today, it offers a comprehensive collection of solutions to help new parents navigate pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and pumping. Lansinoh is determined to have a positive impact and support a healthier future of families. Their sustainability commitments are driven by science and support the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. Lansinoh is committed to being climate neutral by 2030.
Targets and Reduction
Lansinoh has set science-based emissions reduction targets across the entire value chain. These commitments align to the Paris agreement, which strives to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. These goals have been evaluated and validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative. In addition, the company’s goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030. A first step towards that goal is to achieve carbon neutrality with selected products from the Lansinoh product portfolio.
Subject of the Carbon Neutrality
The subject for the carbon neutrality are three selected products from the Lansinoh product portfolio:
- Disposable Nursing Pads are used by breastfeeding mothers and inserted between the bra and the breast to absorb any milk that may leak between feedings. Lansinoh® Nature Soft Nursing Pads come with a 100% organic cotton face sheet and a back sheet construction of non-woven that works without a PE film which makes the pad more breathable and reduces rustling.
- The Lansinoh® Organic Pre-Birth Preparation Oil conditions and moisturizes skin to support elasticity with a nourishing blend of safe, organic oils to soften the skin of the perineal area. The organic oil’s unique blend has been specially formulated to be suitable for the sensitive skin and is gynecologically tested for use on the perineal area.
- Lansinoh® Organic Post-Birth Relief Spray provides soothing relief for post-birth discomfort. Its unique blend of soothing herbal ingredients including aloe vera, chamomile & cucumber helps to cool and calm the perineal area after birth. The organic spray has been specially formulated to be suitable for the sensitive skin and is gynecologically tested for use on the perineal area.
Reduction Measures
As part of the climate strategy and commitment to carbon neutrality throughout the product portfolio Lansinoh also aims to reduce emissions wherever possible. Only unavoidable emissions are to be compensated. The reduction measures are developed and implemented in various internal processes but also along the supply chain. Among others the reduction measures include an increased share of green energy for the Lansinoh energy demand and reduced packaging. Furthermore, Lansinoh investigates ways to participate and/or apply Circular Economy by using more and more recycled materials in their products instead of virgin ones.
Access to Safe Water in Cambodia
Compensation Project
The Context:
In rural Cambodia, a third of the population do not have access to safe drinking water and have no choice but to drink contaminated water from rivers, ponds and swamps. Inadequate access to microbiologically safe drinking water continuously threatens the health and well-being of more than a billion people. Yet in such cases, decentralised water treatment can be used.
The Project:
This project seeks to further access to clean and safe drinking water for households and communities, by using low greenhouse gas emitting water purification technologies at water treatment stations in rural areas. The project enables locals to earn a living by purifying and distributing sourced water locally. There are currently more than 150 enterprises providing clean, affordable water to over 220,000 people.
The Benefits:
Purchasing or collecting firewood or fossil fuels to boil and purify water constitutes a significant expense for the poorest households and communities in Cambodia. This project addresses this issue twofold: offering scope for micro-entrepreneurs, creating jobs and supporting families, whilst also reducing fuel costs needed for water boiling. The project greatly improves health outcomes for local people, especially children, and significantly reduces deforestation caused by the need for firewood to boil water.

Safe Community Water Supply in Rwanda
Compensation Project
The Context:
The quality of water in Rwanda is typically not safe to drink; for clean water, families must either boil it over inefficient wood-fuelled fires or travel long distances. The burden to source water, sometimes hours each day, or suffer respiratory illnesses from inhaling smoke from the indoor fires, especially impacts women and children. Boreholes offer an excellent solution, however, communities are often unable to maintain them over the long term.
The Project:
This project restores and repairs existing boreholes to provide clean drinking water to Rwandan communities, removing the need to boil water for purification. Each borehole is up to 100 metres deep, and can be operated with a simple hand pump. The boreholes will be maintained over the project lifetime.
The Benefits:
By providing safe water to communities, this project sparks a chain of positive benefits. Children do not have to spend as much time gathering water or firewood, so they can dedicate time to studying. Families resources are freed up as they don’t have to spend money or time on firewood, instead, they can take part in other income-generating activities, household tasks or taking care of each other. Water-borne and respiratory diseases are reduced thanks to better sanitary conditions and less indoor smoke. By removing the need to boil water the project significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions as well as deforestation pressures on surrounding forests where firewood is sourced.

Small-scale Renewables - Future-proofing Sri Lanka's energy supply
Compensation Project
The Context:
While almost 40% of Sri Lanka’s electricity came from hydropower in 2017, the country still relies heavily on fossil fuels with coal’s share in power generation continuing to increase. Relying heavily on finite fossil fuels, which are tied to volatile markets, came with dire consequences in 2022; with Sri Lanka suffering the worst economic crisis that it has seen in 70 years. Shifting to clean renewable energy sources, in particular solar power, is critical in future-proofing the nation’s economy and eradicating energy poverty, which is currently systemic throughout the country.
The Project:
Sri Lanka has abundant renewable energy potential, with opportunity to harness the power of wind and solar to meet the country’s energy demands. Yet most small-scale solar and wind projects are not attractive to investors due to low return on investment. Thanks to carbon finance, this project makes small-scale renewable energy projects throughout the country viable. The project has set up a series of solar and wind farms that export electricity to the national grid every year, displacing fossil fuels and slashing the emissions that are released when they are burnt.
The Benefits:
In addition to displacing climate-warming emissions from the grid, the project’s small-scale wind and solar farms contribute to sustainable economic growth in Sri Lanka – with a number of jobs created for local workers, during the construction and operation phases of the farms. Trainings are provided to upskill the permanent workforce, facilitating the transfer of knowledge in renewable technology. A key social benefit that comes with these projects is the increase in stable electricity supply to poor and vulnerable communities in rural Sri Lanka, ensuring they are provided with energy access to meet their daily cooking, lighting, and heating needs.
